Compliance team

The compliance team (CT) is newly formed to centralise and manage building compliance services across City Housing.

It brings together managers and support staff (Compliance Officers) who coordinate and manage the servicing of the big six compliance areas - water hygiene, fire risk assessments, gas safety, electrical safety, lift servicing and safety, and asbestos management.

The team work closely with the building safety team, repairs and maintenance colleagues, contractors and housing and estates staff.

Together, we ensure all the checks, services and safety functions are in place and we meet our legal obligations as landlords.

The compliance team are responsible for:

  • fire risk assessments and ensuring remedial actions are completed on time and to a high standard
  • lift servicing and ongoing maintenance
  • lifts and lifting equipment (such as hoists) safety inspections
  • gas servicing records
  • electrical inspection records
  • asbestos surveys and re-inspections in communal areas
  • legionella risk assessment and water hygiene routine checks and tests
  • other essential lifesaving and safety equipment requiring routine inspections

You may see our compliance officers carrying out checks on works our contractors have completed. We will be working with our residents to make sure we access every part of our buildings. This includes inside your homes, to make sure they are safe and compliant.
